His love of nature defined him.
It was contagious.
Everyone who walked with him in the woods
became a nature advocate.

Ned’s old group Save Open Space donates to scholarship fund

February 20, 2025 Uncategorized

Ned led the formation of a greatly missed group, Save Open Space (SOS), to focus on North Texas eco matters. After Ned’s passage, Genie created the Fritz Scholarship Fund, at First Unitarian Church. It supports students who plan on environmental studies at universities to enable future careers in the field.

After a long period of being inactive, SOS recently formally closed up shop. They donated their leftover funds to the Fritz Scholarship Fund at Genie’s memorial on January 11, 2025. Shown here are Susan Grundy, treasurer of SOS, and Nancy Bateman, coordinator of the Fritz Scholarship. Thank you SOS!
