Ned’s achievement #2: Ever heard of Save Open Space? NED FRITZ created it in 1970 to deal with Dallas County eco-issues. Like concrete batch plants the city allowed in two city parks! (They don’t try that anymore thanks to SOS.) The first to propose a creek-based greenbelt system and green stormwater practices—in the ’70s! The bond election to create the Dallas County Open Space system might not have passed without SOS’s relentless lobbying. The first to bring attention to the natural wonders of the Cedar Hill escarpment and shepherded Cedar Ridge Preserve into being.
You have NED FRITZ to thank for all of that.
Initial SOS research at Ned’s archives at SMU was 6 hours. Two boxes from SOS pioneers delivered to me are still to go. Help me preserve the legacy of this great man who has enriched all our lives. We owe him that. Donate here: https://nedfritz.com/?page_id=370
