A splendid Zoom interview with Janice Bezanson, one of the early directors of Ned’s Texas Committee on Natural Resources and the last one to work with Ned directly. A gold mine of information about his battles against clearcutting in East Texas forests and elsewhere, and his determination to push back against reservoirs that obliterated precious bottomland forests, all so Dallasites could overwater their expansive lawns. Her feedback on the outline of Ned’s life proves to be essential. So grateful for her interest in the project and willingness to spend time on reviewing my words. She makes a great point that adds a new dimension to the project: It’s not just what Ned accomplished, but the many people he mentored who went on to make their own impacts.
